What is the Maryland Advisory Council on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing  MACDHH?

MACDHH was established October 2001.  The Advisory Council has 4 main responsibilities:

  1. to advise ODHH on fulfilling its duties, 
  2. to review statewide activities for deaf and hard of hearing individuals,
  3. to foster coordination and support of programs for deaf and hard of hearing individuals in MD, and
  4. to study ways to ensure that people with hearing loss have access to the services available to them.

The Council has three subcommittees: behavioral health, education, and communication access.


Beginning October 1, 2010, the MACDHH will have 18 members. Nine are public members from the community and nine are from State agencies. Members are appointed by the Governor with the consent of the Senate.  For a list of agencies and community representatives, click on the “Members” link below.
